The North Massapequa Fire Department is an all volunteer department with over 90 members. The department is comprised of 3 Companies:
- Ladder Company #1 (Tower Ladder- 661 and Ambulance- 667)
- Hose & Engine Company #2 (Engine- 662 and Engine- 663) and
- Friendship Engine Company #3 (Heavy Rescue- 664; Engine- 665 and Ambulance- 668.
Companies 1 & 2 man headquarters, on Broadway; Company 3 at Station 2, on Hicksville Rd.
We serve the roughly 3.2 square mile North Massapequa community in Nassau County; on New York’s, Long Island.
Our mission is to provide fire suppression services through a range of programs designed to protect the lives and property of the inhabitants from the adverse effects of fires, sudden medical emergencies, or exposure to dangerous conditions created by man or nature.
Formed in 1934, the North Massapequa Fire Department has continuously provided the finest in high quality fire suppression service to the community. At the time of the department’s inception, the members dedicated themselves to protecting the lives and property of their neighbors in time of emergency.
Today, its members uphold that same commitment. The North Massapequa Fire Department has been fortunate to have had many outstanding leaders among its ranks who have given of their time and talents to keeping the department systematically up-to-date and well-trained; which, in turn, has contributed significantly to the outstanding reputation of the fire service in North Massapequa.
Aside from firefighting, the dedicated men and women who comprise this progressive department also perform a wide variety of jobs ie; emergency medical service, hazardous materials (haz-mat) situations; and yes, even rescuing a cat from a tree. They do maintain the latest in training standards and techniques as well as community relations.
Their ongoing efforts have sustained and enhanced the finest tradition of volunteer firefighting, giving their time selflessly to protect their community and help others in their time of need.
