As many in our community know, the truck room of the North Massapequa Fire Department’s headquarters, as well as its apparatus, was destroyed in an early morning Christmas fire. While this was a very difficult day for our members and, of course, our entire community, we want residents to be assured that they continue to be fully protected in the event of any emergency. Our substation on Hicksville Road is fully operational and prepared to rapidly respond to any fire or rescue emergency. Additionally , neighboring fire departments have provided apparatus and offered logistical support as needed. Also, all levels of local government, including the Town Of Oyster Bay and Nassau County, have pledged their full cooperation and support. The timeline to rebuild our headquarters is still being determined.
However, what is certain, is that we will come back better and stronger than ever. We thank all of our residents, and the surrounding community, who have come together to support us in the same manner that we have been there to assist our residents in their hour of need.
As more information becomes available, we will certainly pass it on to the public. In the meantime, we wish you a happy and healthy new year.
Joseph M. Pesale jr.
